National representation: our interview with the Minister of Labour Georges Mischo

Following Minister Georges Mischo's statements in the press on the role of unions and neutral delegates in collective bargaining, ALEBA contacted the Minister's office to find out more about his position.

During our meeting on 19 November 2024, the Minister assured us of the importance he attaches to the plurality of opinions, and we were able to reiterate our position: the integration of neutral delegates is possible and desirable, but should not be to the detriment of the trade unions, particularly those like ALEBA which suffer from a lack of national representativity.

We were also able to submit to the Minister our request to be invited to meetings of the Standing Committee on Labour and Employment.

Finally, we were able to raise other issues that are important to us in defending employees in Luxembourg: Sunday working, problems linked to the distinction made between parent companies and entities, outsourcing and economic layoffs.

The Minister of Labour was open to discussion and invited us to send him our ideas and working documents on the subjects we discussed.
