ING Luxembourg and social partners: priority to employability

On September 24th, 2024, a constructive meeting has taken place between the two unions represented in the delegation, LCGB-SESF and ALEBA, and the management of ING Luxembourg to discuss the future of employees following the announcement of the repositioning of ING Bank on private banking and wholesale banking activities. During this meeting, the joint commitment to preserving employment and enhancing the company's human capital was highlighted. Nevertheless, the parties are realistic and stress the importance of promoting employability, considering the development of both ING Bank and the financial centre.

 

Key points of the meeting:

  1. Open and transparent: The meeting took place in a spirit of openness and transparency, allowing for a constructive exchange between all parties. The parties are committed to maintaining social dialogue to anticipate and manage developments in the banking sector.
  2. No social plan or layoffs planned: ING Luxembourg's management has confirmed that no social plan or layoffs are planned at present.
  3. Priority to safeguarding jobs: All parties reaffirmed that safeguarding employees' jobs is a significant priority. Management and social partners are committed to exploring all possibilities to promote employability.
  4. Valorization of internal skills: Particular emphasis has been placed on the appreciation of employees and their skills for the future of ING Luxembourg. Management is committed to prioritizing internal mobility and offering training opportunities to adapt employees' skills to the company's future needs.
  5. Commitment to continuous communication: ING Luxembourg, the trade unions LCGB-SESF and ALEBA, and the staff delegation have agreed on the importance of maintaining regular contact. All parties undertake to remain transparent and open to future discussions.

 

ING Luxembourg, LCGB-SESF and ALEBA also agreed that it is essential to communicate and inform employees of the progress of the file.
