On Wednesday, 25 March 2026, ALEBA’s Comité des Sages held a constructive exchange with the Democratic Party on major issues concerning Luxembourg’s future: pensions, growth, attractiveness, and social dialogue. Among the Members of Parliament present was the President of the DP, Carole Hartmann.
This meeting provided an opportunity to address several key topics for employees, retirees, and future generations, in a spirit of listening, respect, and open exchange. The issues discussed included pension reform and its long-term viability, economic growth prospects, the future of the social security system, as well as the conditions needed to strengthen Luxembourg’s attractiveness and meet labour market needs.
The discussions also focused on the links between economic development, social cohesion, and social dialogue, with particular attention paid to the structural challenges the country will have to face in the years ahead. For ALEBA, this type of meeting is essential in order to bring forward concerns from the field and to contribute actively to reflection on Luxembourg’s major economic and social policy directions.
ALEBA welcomes the quality of this exchange, which was both constructive and interactive, and applauds the willingness to continue these meetings on a regular basis. The continuity of dialogue with political stakeholders is an important element in fostering serious, pluralistic, and forward-looking reflection.
