Luxembourg, 25 September 2025 – The Association Luxembourgeoise des Employés ayant Besoin d’Assistance (ALEBA) and the Association des Fonctionnaires et Employés de la Banque et Caisse d’Épargne de l’État Luxembourg (AFEBCEEL) today signed a groundbreaking partnership agreement aimed at strengthening the defense and support of employees in the financial sector in Luxembourg.
This merger marks an important milestone for the Luxembourg trade union landscape:
The two organizations, historically committed to protecting employee rights, are joining forces to offer their members a wider range of information, benefits, and specialized services.
The partnership provides for structured cooperation while preserving the independence and autonomy of each organization in its governance, statutes, and management of its affiliates.
Employees affiliated with AFEBCEEL will now be able to benefit from certain services and support developed by ALEBA, particularly in the areas of union information, legal advice, and benefits negotiated with external partners.
“This partnership reflects our shared desire to join forces to better protect employees in the financial sector, while respecting the identity and independence of each organization,” said Roberto Mendolia, President of ALEBA. “By collaborating with ALEBA, we are offering our members new leverage and enhanced support, without sacrificing our autonomy,” added Steve Melan, President of AFEBCEEL.
This cooperation comes at a time when defending the interests of employees in the banking and financial sector requires greater expertise, better union coordination, and a stronger capacity to respond to the economic and social challenges that are having a lasting impact on the world of work in Luxembourg.
